
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can only Winter Park Christian Church families attend the school? Winter Park Christian School serves all of Grand County. We require that at least one parent or legal guardian be a Christian. We are happy to discuss this with you in detail.
2. Is there a book fee? WPCS does not have book fees. We do occasionally have extra costs for field trips or to replace a lost book.
3. Are families required to volunteer? WPCS does not require families to volunteer. However, because we are small, we encourage families to volunteer as much as they can and offer opportunities to do so.
4. How do students measure up academically? The ACT score average for students at WPCS as of 2015 is 27 compared to the state average of 20.
5. Are students adequately prepared for college and other post-graduate training? Yes, some of the colleges, universities, technical schools, and armed forces that our graduates have attended include the following: Denver University, Biola University and Torrey's Honor Program, Colorado State University, Cedarville University, Metro State University, University of Northern Colorado, Cal Poly (California Polytechnic State University), Hillsdale University, Culinary School of New York, Regis University, U.S. Armed Forces, Red Rocks Community College, Denver Art Institute, Full Sail University, the University of Colorado, YWAM (Youth with a Mission), Christian Writer's Guild Apprenticeship.
6. Is WPCS accredited? WPCS is working towards accreditation with the Association of Classical and Christian Schools. Please note that this has not been a problem for students going to their college of choice or for transfers from school to school.
7. Can my child participate in sports or other activities while attending WPCS? Yes, we have students who participate in community and public school sponsored programs such as football, volleyball, basketball, swimming, baseball, track, skiing, gymnastics, wrestling, as well as a variety of music activities and theater/drama. Participation is contingent on maintaining the school's policy of a standard of grade averages.
